Toastmasters International is a non-profit organization which gives its members the opportunity to develop and improve their public speaking abilities through local club meetings, training seminars and speech contests. At Toastmasters, members learn by speaking to groups and working with others in a supportive environment. The SpeakEasy II Toastmasters club is made up of 30 people who meet once a week for about 90 minutes. Each meeting gives everyone an opportunity to practice conducting meetings, giving impromptu speeches, presenting prepared speeches, and offering constructive evaluation.Who founded Toastmasters?
In October 1924, a group of men assembled by Dr. Ralph C. Smedley met in the basement of the YMCA in Santa Ana, California, U.S.A., forming a club "to afford practice and training in the art of public speaking and in presiding over meetings, and to promote sociability and good fellowship among its members." Speakeasy II Toastmasters is a local chapter of Toastmasters. Our club meets at St Andrew Presbyterian Church at 37th and Baseline in Boulder, CO (we are not affiliated with the church). Enter on the east side of the building (the side facing the parking lot) and go up a short flight of stairs, we are the first door on the left.When are the meetings?
Speakeasy II meets on Mondays from 7 pm - 8:30 p.m. Guests are always welcome. If you are thinking about joining a Toastmasters Club we invite you to visit one of our meetings. We ask that you arrive a couple of minutes early so we can ensure seating capacity and find out if you want to participate or just observe.
